Recorded: June 29, 2020, 03:50 PM - 05:05 PM +03(+03:00) Prof. Fernando Reimers , Ms. Shireen Yacoub , Mr. Anas Alshami, Mr. Bader Al Zaharna, Dr. Tafeeda Jarbawi There has been extensive discussion around the issue of Covid-19 and the challenges it has posed to the traditional education sector. Like our peers, and along with educators across the globe, we as students have experienced the upheaval of this sudden shift to online learning, for which none of us were truly prepared. Yet something few may have considered is what education, and daily life, now looks like for marginalised youth who were already living in conflicted-affected regions, facing collapsing economies, severe unemployment rates, and limited access to even the most basic of human necessities. How did they adjust to this new way of learning? What can we take away from this experience moving forward, and what are the lesson learnt? Can these challenges be turned into opportunities? Can online learning open new doors for refugee and IDP youth across the MENA region?
