On April 14, 2021, the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo together with Learning of Tomorrow/NPO Canvas, hosted a virtual webinar with Darcy W. Hardy, Associate VP for Academic Affairs, North America Higher Education (NAHE) at Blackboard Inc., on the topic of ‘Online Education Technology – Shaping the Future of Learning’. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected educational systems worldwide, and has prompted the wide use of technology within the learning environment. Many schools have shifted to online classes, and an array of digital tools and applications are being implemented to support online learning. Furthermore, this unique situation has led to reconsider the effect and impact of online education technology and rethink what the future of learning should look like. In this webinar, Darcy shared her experience working as a distance and online learning professional. She discussed her work at Blackboard Inc., one of the leading educational technology companies in the U.S., and provided her insight into how education has changed in the U.S. in response to COVID-19 and the new trends she sees in this field.
